I've got the world on a string.

Day 1

Name two of the most significant people in your life and explain why.

Besides the obvious family answers, I’m going to have to say my LBIFF Sari and best friend Caitlin.

Sari, oh Sari, where do I begin? Think about the best relationship you between friends you can possibly think of. Got it? Now multiply that by 100000000000000000000 (etc) and that is how awesome Sari and I are. I mean, puta is my best friend and I’d be really lost without her (blah blah blah, the usual sentiments) But really, she changed me for the better and helped me realize a lot of things about myself. So thanks. :)

For my second person, a lot of people came to mind. I settled on one of my best friends Caitlin. Caitlin is the type of person who will challenge me, which is wonderful. Previously in my life, not a lot of my friends would challenge me on the things I say, but Caitlin will. It’s wonderful to have a friend like that who does challenge you, but also has your back, no matter what.

The good times and the bad times both will pass. It will pass. It will get easier. But the fact that it will get easier does not mean that it doesn’t hurt now. And when people try to minimize your pain they are doing you a disservice. And when you try to minimize your own pain you’re doing yourself a disservice. Don’t do that. The truth is that it hurts because it’s real. It hurts because it mattered. And that’s an important thing to acknowledge to yourself. But that doesn’t mean that it won’t end, that it won’t get better. Because it will.
